New Amphitheater Receives Major Star-Studded Support

Pat Benatar and husband Neil Giraldo are giving their full support to a new 4,000-seat amphitheater being built on the campus of California's Moorpark College, the Los Angeles Times reports.

"Music and the arts are so important to us," Benatar said at a June 29 fundraiser.

"The kids need it so much."

The amphitheater, which will be between the Hollywood Bowl and the Santa Barbara Bowl, will be the largest outdoor venue of its kind in Ventura County and "an inviting destination for residents of Ventura County and west Los Angeles County who have long wanted to see an expansion of the arts footprint in their region," says college president Julius Sokenu.

The amphitheater, which is expected to cost around $40 million, will provide performance space for local organizations, dance and theater troops, symphony orchestras, and individual artists.
